An elegant Victorian pearl & diamond 3 row necklace.
This beautiful necklace has 3 rows of cultured (Akoya) pearls strung onto an old cut diamond set circular clasp.
The diamond clasp comprising a large old cut diamond to the centre surrounded by 2 rows of old cut diamonds in a typical target design. The central diamond is in a fine coronet mount with the outer diamonds mounted in a cut down silver and gold setting typical of the era.
The clasp has a (later) handmade pierced out gold back with an diamond tongue fitting with integral thumb piece.
The pearls are well matched and are a warm ivory colour with a good lustre.
Era: Victorian, 1837 - 1901
Measurements: Total diamond weight estimated 3.20 carats
Central old cut diamond estimated 0.75 carats
Clasp 2.8cm including rings, 2cm in diameter
Pearls 6-9mm diameter untested assumed cultured
Necklace 48cm 17" at shortest length
Hallmarks: No assay marks - tests silver and gold, reverse of clasp stamped 9CT
