An elegant late Victorian large diamond and pearl star brooch/pendant.
The brooch has an old cut diamond to the centre within a double cluster of pearls set within an 8 pointed star.
The star has smaller diamonds each mounted at the end of a 'knife edge' bar which radiate out between each point. The main diamond is open to the back and the star has a hook fitting to the reverse onto which a chain can be hung converting the brooch to a pendant.
The pearls are in beautiful condition and the piece is finely made with a detatchable gold 'sprung' pin to the reverse.
Era: Victorian, 1839 - 1901
Measurements: Brooch 4cm (1 5/8") in diameter.
Central old cut diamond estimaetd 0.30 carat,
total diamond weight estimated 0.60 carats
Brooch weighs 12.4 grams (with screw fitting)
Hallmarks: No assay marks; brooch tests as 18ct gold
