An unusual Victorian coral and diamond cluster ring.

 

The ring has a cabochon cut red coral to the centre surrounded by a border of small mixed cut diamonds within a handmade finely pierced openwork gallery.

 

This beautiful ring has split scrolled design shoulders onto a plain slightly tapered shank. It sits low to the hand which is typical of the era.

 

The ring is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1899, and is in fabulous condition.

 

The coral is a good orange colour. In the Victorian era coral was believed to have a protective quality and was a popular choice for jewellery.

 

Era: Victorian, 1839 - 1901

Measurements: Coral 9.7mm diameter.

Head of ring 13.5mm diameter.

Total diamond weight estimated 0.60 carats
