A stylish Georgian Regency bloodstone fob seal.
The top designed as an urn with scrolling decoration. With a large loop to the top to suspend from a guard chain as is a typical design of this period.
The fob is set with a polished rectangular bloodstone intaglio depicting a heraldic coat of arms with three fleur de lys and crest of an outstretched hand holding three feathers.
The crest is similar to the heraldic crests for families Amerie, Aynscomb, Elery, Elly, Iley, Nelson, Wood, and Wynn.
An intaglio is an engraved stone, the opposite of a cameo, with a recessed design cut below the surface of the stone this enables the user to create a wax seal with their crest as a mark.
Era: Georgian, 1714 - 1837
Measurements: Fob 3.3cm high, 2.4cm at widest point,
Fob is 16.2 grams in weight
Hallmarks: Unmarked, tests as 15ct gold
