SKU VT050
Price

£1,350.00

A stylish Georgian Regency fob with a very unsual carved seal.

This beautifully made fob has a wonderful carved floral design across all panels. It has a large loop to the top to suspend a guard chain in a typical design of the period.

The fob has an oval facetted amethyst seal with a carved intaglio design of a liberty pole surrounded with the motto "God Save the King'

A liberty pole is a wooden pole, or sometimes spear or lance, surmounted by a "cap of liberty", mostly of the Phrygian cap form (a soft conical cap with the apex bent over).

In the Georgian era fobs were worn as a decorative and useful accessory. The seal would have been used to stamp a person's crest, initials or image in sealing wax on important documents. The fob is in fabulous condition.
