Edwardian Ruby & Diamond Lapel Watch c.1905
£2,500.00
A rare gemset lapel watch c.1905.
The white dial has black Arabic numerals, an outer minute dial, black hour hands and is surrounded with an outer border of alternating rubies and diamonds in a fine gold millgrain edge.
The watch has a gold fluted winder.
The face of the watch is connected to a blackened steel case housing a Swiss watch mechanism via a pinion which moves the hands so that only the tiny gemset face is visible when worn through a lapel.
This beautiful watch would have been made specifically for someone of very high standing in society as the tiny size of the face would have been rare at the start of the 20th century.
This rare collectors item has its original leather box and was retailed by Koch of Baden Baden.
Era: Art Deco, c.1925 - 1940
Movement: manual Swiss movement
Dimensions: ruby & diamond face 1.2cm in diameter; movement 2.7cm in diameter excluding winder
Hallmarks: Watch case steel with Swiss marks and numbers
