Edwardian Pearl and Turquoise Necklace Mürrle Bennett c.1905
NL203
£2,150.00
An elegant Edwardian fringe necklace attributed to Mürrle Bennett.
The necklace consists of a gold trace chain suspending 9 graduated baroque pearl and turquoise drops. The baroque pearls are all caged in ornate gold wire, in a design typified by this famous maker.
The small cabochon turquose gemstones are a bright blue in colour , they are mounted to the centre of a fine bar giving the impression they are floating when worn.
As was common with necklaces of this era (due to the small links) this piece is unmarked, but unmistakeably attributable to Mürrle Bennett. There is a bolt ring fitting to the chain.
Mürrle Bennett was started by Ernst Mürrle and J.B.Bennett in 1884 and operated until 1914. The company manufactured in both Germany and London in the UK. They became particularly well known for their wonderful, artistic Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts designs and were regularly stocked by Liberty of London.
The necklace has a bolt ring clasp and could be elongated or shortened if required.
Era: Edwardian, 1901 - 1920
